Do you want to use the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE)? That's definitely a good idea, particularly if you want to efficiently handle your SQL Server 2005 (either the Express Edition or the Express Edition with Advanced Services). It is a user-friendly graphic management tool and it is available for free. Here are some pointers on how you can properly install it:

Know the system specifications. Your operating system must be supported by any of these three: Service Pack 1 (Windows Server 2003); Service Pack 2 (Windows XP); or Service Pack 4 (Windows 2000). Meanwhile, your computer must be powered by Intel, or at least, compatible with Pentium III 600 MHz. It must also have a fast processor. A minimum of 1 GHz is highly recommended. And of course, it must have at least 100MB of hard disk space (available) and 192 MB of RAM (but 521 or better is strongly suggested).
Note the precautions. Check out your current system. Does it have any Community Technology Preview (CTP) or beta version of SSMSE? You must get rid of it. Otherwise, your installation may fail. Also, you have to make sure that have the rights, as an authorized administrator, in installing SSMSE into your computer.

Download the required files. Simply type in the name of the files that you need to access in any of the search engines. In a few seconds, you can readily click the links, allowing you to get the important files. Of course, you have to find out the specific files for your project. If you what you have is a 32-bit platform, search for the Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 (32-bit version). On the other hand, if it is for a 64-bit platform, look for Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 (x64 and EMT64 versions only). Realize that if you previously installed a Visual Studio 2005 or an SQL Server 2005, you don't need to download a Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0. Then, source a Microsoft Core XML Services (Version 6.0). Again, if you have previously gotten SQL Server 2005, ignore this. And finally, download SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi (file size, 38.5 MB) or SQLServer2005_SSMSEE_x64.msi (39 MB), depending on your system requirement. You can kick off the installation by clicking "Run" among the options. Follow the rest of the instructions and in the "Read Me" file. It is also valuable if you can note the version and the actual date of release or publication. Once you have downloaded the files, note the language options. You can access the files in Chinese (traditional or simplified), Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Italian, German, French, and/or English.
Access files from a DVD. Put in the DVD into the computer's disk drive. On your desktop, look for the "My Computer" icon. Double-click it. Then, access the DVD drive. Right click and choose "Explore". After that, go to the folder for "Tools". Look for SqlRun_Tools.msi file. Double-click it to trigger the installation. When the installation is done, restart your computer. That should allow you to save the new settings. While SSMSE can permit you to work on SQL Server Database Engine files, it can't allow you to access SQL Server Analysis Services, Notification Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services, SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition, or SQL Server Agent. If you need additional information, you may get in touch with SQL Server Express.
